I'd grab a new 2017 model If you can find one. The 2018 models are probably sold out!

I'm kinda joking. There's been a long discussion about Thunderbirds discontinued in 2018.

Dave the Thunderbirds are gone for 2018. The only '18 model I saw listed on the Triumph website was 2018 Street Triples w the new 765 engine.

I gotta say, i really love that paint scheme and the commander in general. There are changes that i like and i just noticed one change thats obviously a fix they incorporated after safety issues on the original birds. Look at the front fender mounting. Notice anything? they changed it so that it no longer poses a safety issue if one of the screws comes loose. It will no longer cut into the tire as you ride if it does. Thats was a concern after a few people had that happen. Could be just because it needed to be moved since the commander's forks incorporate shrouds which might hit the mounts if they were higher, but i have a feeling the safety issue was also a consideration if not the only reason. I've also heard they handle better than the regular birds and storm, and i have to wonder how many other issues have been rectified in them. Tempting ! I could sell my bird with 60k miles and add about 3k and have a brand new commander. Of course that would be the opposite of what i need to do for my financial situation. Tempting never the less. I wonder tho if it is indeed true that the commanders and LT's do suffer more from the dreaded clacking issue as i have heard mentioned here.

There's no question that all the Commander links you guys have posted on here have good prices, but the problem is,ya gotta travel to get it.I like the Commander, but I don't like it enough to wanna go thru all the turmoil to get one.And I thank you gentlemen for the links!! So the hunt will now continue. In the meantime at just 300 miles shy of the 120,000 mark,my Bird is runnin better then it ever has since I've owned it meaning, there's no rush!! Dave!!!

That one for $8999 is right near me, and if my ex employer called me today and rehired me i think i'd head over to that dealer 1st chance i got and pick up that commander. Unfortunatly i'm on track for a diet of dog food for my remaining days so NO new bike is likely to happen again for me. But i love that commander. Well, except for those fucking floorboards and rear indicators, but i assume i could probably do something about the latter easily and possible the boards too. That paint job has me salivating.
